Resonant X-ray Scattering

New Science with Resonant Elastic and Inelastic X-ray Scattering Satellite Meeting

Lecture Theatre, VIDO Building, 120 Veterinary Road, University of Saskatchewan campus.

This international satellite meeting with be held just before the VUVX2010 conference in Vancouver on Thursday, July 8th and Friday, July 9th in Saskatoon on the beautiful campus of the University of Saskatchewan.  Saskatoon is a two-hour direct flight from Vancouver so attendees of the satellite meeting can conveniently travel to Vancouver on Saturday, July 10th (or Sunday, July 11th).

The University of Saskatchewan is home to the Canadian Light Source (CLS), Canada's only synchrotron radiation facility, where commissioning of a new beamline for Resonant Elastic and Inelastic X-ray Scattering (REIXS) has begun.  George Sawatzky's group is leading the endstation for elastic scattering and Alexander Moewes is heading the endstation for inelastic soft X-ray scattering experiments.

The focus of this meeting will be on discussing the forefront of science with synchrotron-based soft X-ray scattering and its future directions.  World-experts will present the science questions that are and will be addressed with X-ray scattering techniques.

An exciting group of speakers will present on relevant topics such as Inelastic and Elastic X-ray Scattering, Applications, Theory, and New Instruments.  A list of Invited Speakers and their topic areas can be found here.

Please contact the satellite meeting chair, Alex Moewes (, for more information.  Attendees are asked to register for the meeting using the VUVX2010 conference registration website where you can also sign-up to take a tour of the CLS.  To learn more about the CLS, please visit here or click here to download a fact sheet.

Accommodation information:
Attendees are asked to make their own accommodation arrangements for the REIXS satellite meeting.  Information on hotels located in Saskatoon can be found here.  Accommodation information can also be found on the CLS website or by contacting Hospitality Services at the University of Saskatchewan.
